Sandra has decided that she absolutely loves Newfoundland. We spent the first part of the day in a rural area with few people and lots of beautiful scenery and an ocean that she could walk in, so she was extremely happy. After checking out of the hotel, we drove to the puffin viewing area, which is a large rock sticking out of the ocean that you can walk on. Near it is another rock that the puffins live on. Very beautiful and Bradley was happy to see the birds. His parents were happier once we convinced him to sit down, so we didn't have to worry about him walking off the edge of a very high cliff. We sat and watched for a bit with a few other people and were just about to leave when one of the puffins flew over and landed at the edge of the rock we were on. We were able to watch it walk along the edge before it flew away and shortly after a second bird did the same thing. I'm fairly certain they were doing it on purpose, as they knew we were there. It was quite a good time.
We then visited a small shop where a local woman knit all sorts of puffin based items that you could purchase. Bradley got mitts and a toque for the winter, while Sandra picked up a Christmas ornament. At another gift shop, the younger boys got puffin stuffies, and Bradley bought a puffin placemat. Our next stop was a small nearby beach, where Bradley got soaked, but those that liked the water had fun playing in the waves.
Then I took Sandra to a quilting store in another rural location, before heading out to our final stop, which was a classic car museum in Swift Current, but not our Swift Current. It was a local man who owned a lot of meticulously restored classic cars and was happily charging people to come and look at them. Evan enjoyed the cars, and there were some nice ones, including two Shelby Cobras signed by Carroll Shelby. Finally, we drove the last bit into St. John's, finally arriving at the easternmost part of our trip. I was pretty tired by this point, so we just found our house (driving down the TGH - Team Gushue Highway), unloaded the van, went for supper and shopping and then called it a day.
Tomorrow we explore St. John's.
