Epic East Coast - Day 2

Today was a good start to our holidays.  We all slept in and after a late breakfast headed out to a regular grocery store, as the one at the base of the condo tower that we went to yesterday was both expensive and not very good.  However, it was the only one open on a holiday.  At the grocery store, Sandra received three comments regarding having four boys, including one nice old lady who is now praying for her.

We then returned to the condo, had lunch and then walked a couple of blocks north to the Hockey Hall of Fame.  As the kids only started watching hockey this year, they have limited knowledge of the famous players of the past, but they seemed a little interested in looking at the displays.  Evan kept pestering us throughout the entire first area to go see the Stanley Cup and then when we went to the area where it was kept, he immediately became engrossed in the computer screen that you use to find specific players in the Hall of Fame and ignored the Cup.  (In fact, that was a theme today - at one point later on, at the aquarium, I had to tell the kids to stop watching the monitor and start watching real life, to the enjoyment of the couple standing in front of me.)

We sent the kids up beside the Cup for a picture and then finished off the static part of the Hall of Fame before moving on to the interactive part.  All three kids lined up to play as a goalie, where it shows a screen with hockey players and then a puck flies out of one of five holes that you have to stop.  Evan stopped two, in that it missed recording one of the shots as a goal and a second shot hit the post.  They then played a game where you shot pucks at a screen and tried to get them past a pretend goalie.  I figured I would do that one as well, since I wasn't interested in showing everyone my complete lack of hand eye co-ordination as a pretend goalie.

Finally, Alex and Evan pretended to be TSN broadcasters in a small room setup to look like it does on SportsCentre.  They had to read from a teleprompter, and they looked pretty good from outside.  Unfortunately, they didn't set things up properly to have the resulting video saved so that we could watch it, so I only have static pictures from outside the booth.

We left the Hall of Fame, had supper at the condo and then headed out to the aquarium, which was ridiculously expensive and extremely busy.  It was a pretty good aquarium, though, as the shark tunnel was a big hit with all the kids.  Bradley fell asleep in the stroller on the walk to the aquarium, but woke up as we walked through and brightened up enough to have a lot of fun watching the sharks.  The aquarium ended up taking just a little too much time, as it was getting quite late before we were done, and I rushed the kids past some kids play areas, which didn't make me super popular, but did get us home in time to get the kids in bed only slightly late.

Tomorrow we'll take things a little easier - I think we're just going to wander around the waterfront and head to a railroad museum, which is right beside the aquarium - which is right beside Rogers Centre, which is right beside the CN Tower - Toronto doesn't seem so big, does it?
